D'Agorno, Paris 1920s

£20.00

This is a gorgeous menu cover created for the Parisian restaurant D’Agorno by late 19th century French artist Édouard Bernard Debat-Ponsan. From the beautiful chef holding aloft a giant fish platter to the chefs inside playing a saucepan and a grill as musical instruments, it is truly a work of art. The artist may well have drawn the menu cover in exchange for being allowed to eat in the restaurant. He died in 1913 but we think this menu is a little after that so the proprietor would have continued to use the artwork on his menus.
