New York Central System, Children's Menu, 1950s

£20.00

The New York Central Railroad, founded by the legendary tycoon and industrialist Cornelius Vanderbilt, operated in the northeastern part of the United States.

Little passengers would have been excited, of course, to board the trains with their parents for the exciting journey on the Water Level Route which started at Grand Central Station in New York and ended LaSalle Street Station in Chicago.

Once aboard, the young rail enthusiasts were presented with charming menus like this one -complete with a poem called I Like The Train – and were served their choice of hot meals by stewards.
